Trond Giske, Norway’s Minister of Trade and Industry, says he’s considering selling SAS if the airline remains financially grounded.

Yesterday’s decision comes just nine days after the government agreed to contribute approximately 575 million kroner of its own in an eleventh-hour rescue package.

The Swedish government has already informed SAS’ other Swedish owners of plans to dispose of its stake in the airline, despite having recently pumped in 890 million.

“The rationale for State ownership was stronger 30 years ago. If a situation arises where both the Swedish and Danish governments commit to selling, it will certainly be of great interest to Norway too,” Giske tells Aftenposten.
