Editor’s tip for a trip: Sola Strand Hotel and beach

If you’ve noticed that spring is in the air but don’t feel like exhausting yourself, then why not visit Sola Strand Hotel? On Sundays in the bar/café area, they have some traditional Norwegian fish soup.

If you didn’t manage a walk last weekend, then park the car in the spaces provided away from the hotel near the Golf Club. After a short amble through the reeds, you are on the beach. For those interested in history, this was a favourite place for the Germans in WWII to build their bunkers. There are at least 3 to see. There are also lovely rocks to either sit or stand on that are near the water’s edge, should you prefer to just soak up your surroundings. Afterwards, stroll towards the hotel.
HOW TO GET THERE:
Drive towards the airport, and then veer off to the R at the roundabout just before. There are signposts
