Editor’s tip for a trip. “Discover” Sandnes. Being a foreigner has its advantages. I’ve always been told that there is a so-called “friendly” rivalry between Stavanger and Sandnes, but not coming from here means I don’t have to get involved in the discussion. Sandnes does have a couple of places that are worth a visit, especially if you want a change.

For the foodies there’s a restaurant called “Charles og De”, started by Charles Tjessem who won the prestigious “Bocuse d’Or” cookery prize in 2003.

If this isn’t your cup of tea – pun intended – then the shop Ivar Skei has a good selection of musical knowledge.

Sandnes is only about 20 minutes drive away from Stavanger.
