A new law designed to combat child human trafficking in Norway takes effect today, Wednesday.
The legislation allows authorities to detain minors in child welfare institutions for their own protection for a maximum of six months against their will, if necessary.
39 children in Norway were identified as victims of human trafficking in 2011, reports NRK.
