According to the new OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) report, the rise can be related to immigration from Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, which was the largest group with 11,350 immigrants. The second-largest immigrant group was Swedes, with 7,300 entering the country.
State number cruncher Statistics Norway’s (SSB) Lars Østby believes that the financial crisis in Europe has led to people opting to move to Norway rather than Britain or Ireland.
Moreover, Jon Erik Dølvik from the Fafo research foundation pointed out to Dagens Næringsliv that Norway also has high salaries, which are 50 percent higher than in EU countries on average.
