The comfortable Norwegian lifestyle is taking its toll on children. A new report has alarmed the health authorities.
“10th-grade schoolchildren sitting in front of the PC or TV for 44 hours a week will give our society a future health problem,” Bjørn Guldvog, assistant health director, tells NRK.
Results of the study show that in fifteen years, fat will be in; just like it is in today’s America. Several states in the U.S. have reported an obesity rate of over 30 percent.
Guldvog urges action, and says the battle against the bulge has already started.
“It’s important that we ensure young people are physically active; not just when it comes to organised sports, but also in school, and during their free time,” he says.
