Yesterday afternoon, Customs officials caught a man trying to import a 75cm long Cayman crocodile in to Norway from Gothenburg during a routine check.

The crocodile was discovered concealed in quite a long pipe in the man’s bag. When questioned, the man said that he had bought it on the Internet two and a half years ago whilst studying in Poland.

“The man will be reported to the police, who will start criminal proceedings against him”, Wenche Fredriksen, the office manager in charge of border control for the eastern district of Norwegian Customs tells The Foreigner.

Another journey to Bergen Akvariet awaits the reptile, who has now been taken in to custody by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.

Let’s hope it manages to stay put, unlike the last escapee.
