The Institute of Public Health (Folkehelseinstituttet) has now declared a national outbreak of E. coli, after five children and a woman in her 60s have fallen ill.
In a press release, the institute writes that it’s too early to identify the source of the infection.
“We’re keeping all our options open for now,” says Line Vold, a spokesperson for the institute.
Although the six patients have contracted the O 103 strain, none of them are reported to have suffered from acute renal failure.
