Earlier this year, the men had bought everything necessary to make an explosive device. They’d tried to obtain hydrogen peroxide from a pharmacy but were told it had to be ordered, reports VG.
The PST’s theory the three were planning a terrorist attack was confirmed when they returned to the pharmacy to pick up the non-lethal substance, which police had switched in the meantime.
The materials were found in the arrested 39-year-old Uyghur’s apartment near Ullevål University Hospital (UUS) and, according to the PST, were enough to make a large or several smaller bombs.
Investigations revealed al-Qaida’s attack was to take place on Norwegian soil for the first time ever, instead of abroad as police originally thought.
The target had not been chosen yet, according to VG.
