Family afraid for man’s safety.
A Norwegian citizen with Somali origins on the UN Security Council’s Specially Designated Global Terrorists list has been arrested by authorities in Yemen.
“The man is on the UN’s list of people it considers to be supporters of the Taliban or Al Qaida,” Marte Lerberg Kopstad, on-duty press spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tells NRK.
Nothing has been heard from the 50 year-old since his arrest on 31 January, and his family fears he has been tortured.
Norway’s Consulate General says it will be contacting the Yemenis to obtain more information.
