Afghan roadside bomb kills four Norwegians. Four Norwegian soldiers were killed yesterday afternoon after a roadside bomb exploded near their armoured vehicle in the province of Faryab in northern Afghanistan. The soldiers were part of the stabilization force near the Meymaneh base, and were on a mission in Almar in the south of the province when their vehicle was hit at 17:20 local time “It is with great sorrow that we received the news of the loss of four of our soldiers. This shows how difficult the mission is,” said Minister of Defence Grete Faremo at today’s press conference.

Four Norwegian soldiers were killed yesterday afternoon after a roadside bomb exploded near their armoured vehicle in the province of Faryab in northern Afghanistan.

The soldiers were part of the stabilization force near the Meymaneh base, and were on a mission in Almar in the south of the province when their vehicle was hit at 17:20 local time

“It is with great sorrow that we received the news of the loss of four of our soldiers. This shows how difficult the mission is,” said Minister of Defence Grete Faremo at today’s press conference.

All four of the victims’ families have been notified.

The military have now released the names of those soldiers killed:
Andreas Eldjarn, born 27.10.19 in Tromsø
Simen Tokle, born 30.09.1985 in Ballangen
Trond Bolle, born 05.07.1968 in Lena (Toten)
Christian Lian, born 06.04.1979 in Kristiansand
