27-year-old Håvard Nyfløt and Shamrez Khan (29) were sentenced to 17 and 8 years, respectively, following the 5 week-long trial.

Ms Ashraf was bundled into the boot of a car outside a bus stop last year, disappearing without a trace, until Mr Nyfløt confessed to murdering her, giving police information as to her body’s whereabouts.

Whilst the court found nothing suggesting Mr Khan asked him to carry out her killing, reports NRK, the autopsy proves her death was caused by strangling following Mr Nyfløt’s actions.

“It is inconceivable he tightened strips around her neck without understanding that he choked her…The Court finds evidence he acted with intent to kill but not that her murder was premeditated,” the verdict reads.

Mr Nyfløt appealed on the spot.
