Bergen battles with pollution problem. Freezing conditions put the kybosh on cars. Did you think Norway has some of the freshest air in the world? Think again. The cold weather has succeeded in making Bergen the most polluted city in Europe. Pollution levels have got so bad, that the city started laying on free express buses today from 07 o’clock to try and encourage people to leave the car at home.

Did you think Norway has some of the freshest air in the world? Think again. The cold weather has succeeded in making Bergen the most polluted city in Europe.

Pollution levels have got so bad, that the city started laying on free express buses today from 07 o’clock to try and encourage people to leave the car at home.

The council also says it will consider whether or not to close some areas of the centre, Bergens Tidende reports.

Possible closure of schools and kindergartens in the most polluted areas are being discussed.
