Big bird lands on top of roundabout on Jæren.. Klepp scores a Birdie. Is it a plane? Is it Superman? No, it’s a work of art. According to Jærbladet, the steel sculpture weighing two tonnes arrived by lorry at approximately 11 p.m. on Wednesday. The six metre wide migratory-bird monument had to be lifted on to the roundabout with a crane; although cranes can normally fly. Klepp is one of the country’s most important areas for birds, and the idea behind the sculpture was to reflect this, writes Stavanger Aftenblad.

Is it a plane? Is it Superman? No, it’s a work of art. According to Jærbladet, the steel sculpture weighing two tonnes arrived by lorry at approximately 11 p.m. on Wednesday. The six metre wide migratory-bird monument had to be lifted on to the roundabout with a crane; although cranes can normally fly.

Klepp is one of the country’s most important areas for birds, and the idea behind the sculpture was to reflect this, writes Stavanger Aftenblad.

The council has paid the artist John Th. Josefsen 250,000 kroner for both the installation and the honour of exhibiting it.

Standing five metres high, you could say that it is a bit of a landmark. Remember to close your car windows as you drive past, just in case.
