Former glam rock star Gary Glitter was convicted this year following a new string of child sex offences being revealed.

Paul Gadd, more commonly known by his stage name Gary Glitter, appeared on an episode of This Is Your Life in 1992 together with Tessa Dahl.

The British biographical TV documentary programme, hosted by Eamon Andrews, was based on the 1952 American show of the same name.

Tessa Dahl reveals to a laughing audience that “train loads” of teenage schoolgirls would visit Glitter who was staying at her home, paying five pounds each to “gaze at Glitter”.

During the episode, she explains to the public that “Gary actually came to live in my house when he was between jobs.”

“My sister Lucy turned it into quite a successful venture because she used to pack the train full of her adolescent school friends in school uniforms and then skive (play truant) school,” said Ms Dahl. "And she'd bring them up to the house and charge them five pounds a head to gaze at Glitter."

Glitter holds a finger to his lips quickly and hushes Tessa as she is explaining this, before laughing along with the audience and adjusting his scarf.

The former musician was jailed for four months in November after admitting possession of 4,000 images of child pornography.

These were discovered after he took his Toshiba laptop to PC World in Bristol for repair in the late 1990s. He was arrested in 1997.

Giving evidence at his trial in Southwark Crown Court earlier this year, he said, issuing a tearful apology, that, “I lost my own dignity, and I am so sorry. I am very sorry. I am sorry today and every day of my life ever since. I am sorry to my fans.”

He was convicted of one count of attempted rape, four of indecent assault, and one of sexual intercourse with a girl of under 13 .

70-year-old Glitter is set to be sentenced on 27th February.
