‘Pocket Man’ Erik Andersen applies to the Courts following a new psychiatric report giving this the green light.

He was sentenced to ten years’ preventative detention in 2010 following legal proceedings in Follo District Court, eastern Norway, and Borgarting Court of Appeal.

Judges doubted how effective the treatment he was receiving at the time was, according to VG.

Mr Andersen was also ordered to pay his 66 young victims NOK 2.65 million in damages and legal costs of NOK 575k.

Charges were raised in 2009 in connection with 74 incidents following his 2008 indictment.

68 of these involved sexual assault offences, ranging from attempting to have sexual intercourse with 66 young boys to rape. He had also breached arms legislation.

Police had investigated a series of sexual assaults in southern Norway that had taken place over a number of years by the time Mr Andersen was apprehended in the autumn of 2007.

It was probably the longest-running history of sexual assault in Norway.

62-year-old Mr Andersen was dubbed ‘The Pocket Man’ (‘Lommemannen’) due to the way he tricked the underage boys to touch his genitals through a hole cut in the lining of his trouser pocket.

He had asked them to help him find his key and other objects.

Convicted as a paedophile, he has now served his minimum sentence of seven years following his 2007 arrest. The period up to his sentencing was deducted as time already served.

The psychiatrists’ findings in their report are that Mr Andersen can be released on parole under certain conditions, deeming that the risk of him committing new assaults is low.

Mr Andersen’s minimum sentence time is up this summer and he lodged his application a few weeks ago.
