HRH Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s stepbrother was killed in the attack on Utøya, it is revealed.

Norway’s Royal Court confirmed yesterday that Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s stepbrother Trond Berntsen was one of Utøya’s victims.

Although it was originally feared 86 people were killed during the attack on Utøya, police reduced confirmed figures to 68 yesterday.

Perpetrator Anders Behring Breivik, 32, also hoped to kill former Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland.

Chron also reports that Breivik, wanted an open court hearing on Monday for the public and the media, to be able to explain why he committed these crimes against Norway. This was refused by the Court.

Breivik was sentenced to eight weeks custody, four in complete isolation without contact with the outside world. Dr. Colin Poole, head of surgery at Ringeriket Hospital in Honefoss northwest of Oslo, said that the gunman used special bullets designed to disintegrate inside the body and cause maximum internal damage.
