EU still ’non’ for Norwegians. Reluctance to join the EU remains high amongst Norway’s population. Whilst Norwegian authorities are anti-Schengen expansion, and Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg still receives his personal post six times per week, the latest opinion poll shows 71 percent would still vote ‘no’ if there were a national referendum tomorrow. According to Aftenposten, the results of its poll could be due to current economic turbulence in several EU countries.

100 percent of Red Party (R) and Centre Party (Sp) voters are against joining the EU, and the Socialist Left (SV) and the Conservatives (H) come in at 98 and 59 percent, respectively.

The poll also shows approximately 35 percent of EU Directive-friendly Norway’s Labour (Ap), Liberal (V), and Progress (FrP) voters are in favour of membership.
