Faulty powder fire extinguishers recalled. A production fault discovered in the trigger mechanism has caused the Gloria Company to recall 40,000 fire extinguishers for inspection. The fault could cause the unit not to operate as designed when used. “The fault concerns a ventilation bolt that is compressed when the handle is pushed down. On certain units in the affected production-series, the bolt is oversized, and this can lead to the bolt either snapping or becoming bent”, the company writes in their press release.Unclear

Failure

The fault could cause the unit not to operate as designed when used.

“The fault concerns a ventilation bolt that is compressed when the handle is pushed down. On certain units in the affected production-series, the bolt is oversized, and this can lead to the bolt either snapping or becoming bent”, the company writes in their press release.

Unclear

The manufacturer says they discovered it on two that are sold on the European market.

“We have no idea how many extinguishers are affected by this fault, but it’s only a small percentage of the 5,000 we have sold to private customers”, Gloria’s spokesman, Lars Einar Petterson, told TV2.

Certain models only

Both TV2 and Gloria inform the Public that it is the pressure-loaded 6 and 12-kilo extinguishers that are affected.

“The problem applies to the PD 6 GA and PD 12 GA produced between January 2007, up to and including October 2008. Gloria extinguishers have the production date marked on the label, which is divided into production years. The fault is those units that have a triangle under 07 and 08,” according to the press release.

Gloria assures the Public that they have also tested that the trigger mechanisms on all of the units that have not yet been sold.

TV2 also lists NOHA’s P6G and P12GA, and the Redo (Tempus) 6PN and 9PN as other extinguishers that should be taken back for inspection.
