According to the Norwegian Telegram Bureau (NTB), 5,600 dishwashers can be fire hazards. Electrolux has discovered a faulty electrical-supply part in the motherboard. In addition to its own brand, Zanussi, AEG, and Husqvarna are also said to be affected.

“Although we regard the risk as small, we view the problem as serious, and have decided to check all of the affected machines produced between June 2006 and June 2007”, the manufacturer says.

What to look for and who to contact

Owners are asked to locate both the 9-digit product number and the 8-digit serial number on the right-hand side of the machine’s door.

You can either send and email to oppvask@aditro.com with “oppvaskmaskin” in the subject-line, or phone them on 21 00 48 70 with your name, address, telephone, model and serial number. A technician will then come to see if your machine is affected free-of-charge.

Check here if your machine is affected.

“If you own one of the affected models, then turn the machine off until it has been checked by an authorised service technician”, adds Electrolux.

Up until now only 16 reports have been received of fire-related incidents, but none of them are said to have been serious.
