Get an AutoPASS tag, get a discount. Ministry of Transport and Communications to allow toll road reductions for all. The ministry has endorsed a suggestion by the Directorate of Public Roads (Vegdirektoratet) to give a percentage reduction on the price each time the motorist drives through a toll plaza. “All who have an Autopass electronic toll road tag will be eligible for a 10 percent discount, irrespective of which company they have signed an agreement with. Both the motorist and the company will profit from such an arrangement...Increased use of AutoPASS tags will help reduce the cost of both operation and administration of the toll road system. Lower costs will in turn increase the amount of money available to build roads” writes Geir Pollestad, the ministry’s State Secretary, in a letter to the directorate.

All new toll road systems will be required to introduce the discount, and the minister encourages existing companies to do the same.
