The expression “silence is golden” took on a new meaning last Sunday. According to Stavanger Aftenbladet, a woman driver was charged 33 kroner last Sunday for taking a mannequin on board a ferry in her car.

Solveig Maurer arrived at the ticket window at Arsvågen with the model strapped in the front passenger seat, expecting only to pay for herself and her vehicle to travel over Boknafjord.

“It was only when I had first driven on board that I noticed that I’d had also paid for “Eli” the fashion doll,” she tells the paper.

However, Oskar Bergeim in Fjord1 Fylkesbaatane says that Solveig only has to ask, and the company will refund the price of Eli’s ticket.

“We don’t ordinarily charge for mannequins,” he says.

The dummy was not available for comment.
