Today's bomb scare at the airport has turned out to be a false alarm after police confirm what was found in the bag were army training materials instead.

"The bag has now been identified and military personnel have collected it," operations leader Terje Hilland in Hordaland police tells NRK.

Earlier this morning, police notified the military after baggage handlers suspected the bag contained an explosive device. The bomb alert completely closed the airport and triggered a hunt for the checked bag's owner.

Bomb experts, who were airborne and already on their way from Oslo, will now be returning after they have landed at Bergen, according to police, and things are slowly returning to normal.
