Passengers travelling on international flights from Oslo Gardermoen airport will no longer be greeted by security personnel before Departures.

In a money-saving measure, the airport has now introduced London Tube-like automatic ticket scanners.

“Security guards have never really checked tickets. Their most important job has been to stop international passengers getting back into the Domestic terminal,” Jo Kobro, head of airport information tells Aftenposten.

And should you wander off the “right” path, Kobro goes on to say that the road (back) is long. Travellers will have to go through customs and turn up at security once again.

“Those who’d hoped to drop by the duty-free will be disappointed, as you’ll still have to show a valid international ticket.”
