Airport’s Authority Avinor say airspace over Svalbard is closed because of thick concentrations of volcanic ash.

Ash has also reached Vestlandet, though airspace is open for now. Meteorologist Frida Laastad says the current cloud now over land will be gone by tomorrow, but things could change quickly.

"The cloud will gradually move eastwards, reaching more airports on the coast. But it’s dangerously near Flesland and Sola,” she told NRK this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the UK Met Office’s 5-day forecast currently shows more ash will enter Norwegian airspace on Sunday, affecting the south and west, possible from Oslo and up to around Trondheim.

However, their predictions assume the Eyjafjallajökull volcano will continue to pump our ash at the same rate.
