OTC, one of the world's most prominent oil trade fairs, in May this year offers key insights by leading experts on emerging technologies, project updates, best practices, safety, environmental issues, and the changing regulatory environment.

The 6th to 9th May discussions will include all aspects from regulation to innovation in the oil industry. Norway Petroleum and Energy Minister Ola Borten Moe will be accompanying TRH in Houston.

They starts with talks about improved self-regulation and how the US federal and state government can coordinate regulations and policies.

A panel of oil company executives from Malaysian oil company Petronas, Brazil’s Petrobras, Mexican Pemex, and others will talk about their increasing responsibilities and role within the global industry later during that week.

There will be discussions regarding megaprojects’ opportunities and challenges, including Cascade and Chinook, Offshore Peru drilling, the South China Sea, Deepwater Liwan, and the Pluto Greenfield LNG development.

The conference will also present some new applications and solutions. These include sub-salt geosciences, safety and environment systems (SEMS), unconventional subsea exploration and mining, deepwater HP/HT well construction, fiber optics, and marine geohazards.

Within technology and innovation, flow assurance, floating LNG, submarine slope stability, and deepwater metallic risers are some matters that will be looked at. Ocean mining, composite piping systems, and ROV/AUV technology are topics too.

Moreover, OTC 2013’s active arena panel will focus on China’s offshore industry’s perspective, and there will be an overview of the new sub-salt discoveries in Angola and the natural gas ones in Mozambique.

The Crown Prince couple will then travel on to Fort Worth. The programme there will include a visit to one of F-35 manufacturer Lockheed Martin’s plants.

TRH will also attend the opening of a technology seminar at Stanford University, a tourism seminar in San Francisco, and meet Norwegian start-ups in this region as part of their official visit.
