Norway was second favourites in the run up to this year’s competition as they sought an improvement to last year’s humiliation.

The entry by Tooji, who appeared as part of NRK’s transmission coverage this year, finished in last place in Baku in 2012.

However, the general feel to this year’s Norwegian entry in the UK was somewhat positive. (Video below courtesy of EBU).

Some believed Berger, a preacher’s daughter, was a decent candidate to challenge strong favourite Emmelie de Forest of Denmark.

The 26-year-old Norwegian, who has gone from mysterious dark to blond, was the ‘Pop Idol’ wildcard when 18, and her debut album ‘Chameleon’ was well-reviewed in 2004.

Single ‘Lifetime Guarantee’ has spun and gone on MTV Nordic and got the ‘Spellemannpris’ (Norwegian music award) for best video.

Both ‘Pretty Scary Silver Fairy’, which came in 2006, characterised as electronica, and her 2011 single ‘In A Box’ were well-received.

Berger has been described both as flirty disco queen and distanced Ice Princess, the latter most obvious in yesterday’s ESC show.

She expressed great content with her 4th place.

“This is the start of a European career that I am so ready to take on,” she told the viewers after the show.

According to The Guardian, the choreography of Berger’s entry resembled that of hit television series ‘The Game of Thrones’.

The show, which is a success in the UK, recently won a prestigious BAFTA (British Academy of Television and Arts) award.

Guardian reporter, Stuart Heritage noted that if ‘The Game of Thrones’ could beat the Olympics to a television award, then it “can probably beat a Ukrainian with a giant”.

Heritage added about Norwegian Margaret Berger’s entry, “The song itself is a huge, modern, propulsive thing, but the whole Khaleesi thing has probably sewn it up for her.”

Some reporters in Britain weren’t warming to Berger’s song from the start, despite some positive feedback.

“’I Feed You My Love’ sounds as if it should feature on a low-budget action film, but there have definitely been worse Eurovision songs,” The Daily Telegraph’s Alice Vincent said.
