Norway extradites Kosovo Serb inmate. Norwegian authorities have extradited a Kosovo Serb who allegedly committed war crimes in March 1999, according to EULEX, the EU rule-of-law mission in Kosovo. “The defendant was arrested in Norway on 10 March 2009 based on an international wanted notice. The King of Norway signed the final order for extradition,” EULEX writes in a press statement. The suspect, known to the general public as V.C., was supposedly part of “the ethnic Serb force that drove Kosovo Albanians from their homes in Pec, a town 90 kilometres west of the capital, Pristina,” the Canadian Press reports.

The suspect, known to the general public as V.C., was supposedly part of “the ethnic Serb force that drove Kosovo Albanians from their homes in Pec, a town 90 kilometres west of the capital, Pristina,” the Canadian Press reports.

“As a result of cooperation between Kosovo and Norway police authorities, V.C was handed over by Norway at the Oslo airport to Kosovo’s extradition unit,” according to EULEX.

V.C has already appeared before a pre-trial judge in the Peja district court since his extradition on Tuesday, and was sentenced to be detained for a period of 30 days.

About 10,000 ethnic Albanians were victims of the ethnic Serb forces in the 1999 Kosovo war. The final extradition order was signed by Norway’s King Harald.
