Norway FM to Britain. Jonas Gahr Støre is travelling to London to meet with UK counterpart William Hague to mark Roald Amundsen’s South Pole Expedition’s centenary. The two will meet, Wednesday, to raise various international matters relating to Burma, Afghanistan and the Middle East. Europe’s economic situation is also on the agenda. Both FM Støre and British Foreign Secretary Hague will also hold bilateral discussions regarding energy and the climate, focusing particularly on the Arctic and High North.

Jonas Gahr Støre is travelling to London to meet with UK counterpart William Hague to mark Roald Amundsen’s South Pole Expedition’s centenary.

The two will meet, Wednesday, to raise various international matters relating to Burma, Afghanistan and the Middle East. Europe’s economic situation is also on the agenda.

Both FM Støre and British Foreign Secretary Hague will also hold bilateral discussions regarding energy and the climate, focusing particularly on the Arctic and High North.

Moreover, an agreement on strengthening polar co-operation between Norway and the UK will be signed, with special emphasis on common cultural heritage and research.

FM Støre will also be holding a lecture, “Thawing Planet: Climate Change, Resources, and Management of the Arctic”, at the London School of Economics.

On Thursday, the Foreign Minister is to attend a seminar at The Royal Geographic Society, “Celebrating the Roald Amundsen South Pole Expedition Centenary: Breaking the Ice – Exploring Polar Potentials”, to commemorate the 100th Centenary of Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen’s expeditions to the South Pole.
