Norway holiday family complains over foreigners. A Norwegian family who had booked a two-week holiday in Bulgaria returned to Norway after just one week, as most of the hotel guests were Bulgarian or Eastern Europeans, reports say. The couple, who have nothing against the hotel or its facilities, had hoped that there 12-year-old daughter would be able to interact with other children. They told Aftenposten, “We feel deceived, and would have never booked this hotel if we knew this in advance.”

The couple, who have nothing against the hotel or its facilities, had hoped that there 12-year-old daughter would be able to interact with other children.

They told Aftenposten, “We feel deceived, and would have never booked this hotel if we knew this in advance.”

The family had reserved the holiday through Apollo. The company emphasise that they were not misleading with the information provided, however.

Head of information at Apollo, Helen Begby, thinks that ensuring what nationalities are in a hotel at one time is bordering on racism, suggesting clients tell their travel agent if they wish to travel to a hotel with many Norwegians.

“We must expect to meet people from different cultures when we travel and major international hotels will always have people visiting from all over the world visit”, she said.

The family filed a complaint with the package holiday complaint’s authority, which officials subsequently turned down, finding in favour of Apollo.

“One cannot expect there to be a majority of Scandinavians at a hotel, even though travelling with a Norwegian/Scandinavian tour operator abroad,” they wrote.
