Norway winter returns briefly / News / The Foreigner

Norway winter returns briefly. Norway’s inhabitants hoping for spring are in for a slight setback this week as meteorologists predict some snowy weather. On-duty Norwegian met office forecaster Per Egil Haga told NRK, “a new dose of winter is coming to the mountains, but there will also be white precipitation in lowland areas.” Whilst there is already some snow on the ground around the coast just south of Stavanger, forecasters say inner and more elevated areas in western Norway (Vestlandet) will see snow, as well as both Nord and Sør-Trøndelag counties and northwards

On-duty Norwegian met office forecaster Per Egil Haga told NRK, “a new dose of winter is coming to the mountains, but there will also be white precipitation in lowland areas.”

Whilst there is already some snow on the ground around the coast just south of Stavanger, forecasters say inner and more elevated areas in western Norway (Vestlandet) will see snow, as well as both Nord and Sør-Trøndelag counties and northwards

Other snowy parts will also be higher up in the counties of Aust and Vest-Agder in southern Norway, as well as in Telemark County and the east (Østlandet).

Meanwhile, Mr Haga forecasts a low-pressure system will bring strong winds and wet weather towards the weekend.

Western, mid and northern Norway winds will be strong on Wednesday, increasing on Friday. There may even be storms in these areas, as well as in Trøndelag, and in southern and northern Norway.

“The low-pressure system will turn in more of an easterly direction then, meaning it will come further in towards the coast and bring a lot of bad weather with it,” said Mr Haga.

Weekend weather prospects look good for people living around the southern coast and eastwards, however, with dry and fine weather.
