The destinations, starting summer 2014, are New York (JFK), Los Angeles, and Fort Lauderdale.

Norwegian is expecting its seventh Boeing 787 Dreamliner in May. These aircraft are scheduled to be used on these routes, press spokesperson Lasse Sandaker-Nilsen explained to Aftenposten, Thursday.

“There’s great demand for high quality flights at a low fare between the UK and the U.S., particularly to and from London Gatwick, where no other airline currently offers these routes,” Norwegian CEO Bjørn Kjos said in a statement.

These services start at the beginning of July, and are thrice, twice, and twice a week, respectively.

The airline is also launching routes from Gatwick to Santorini, Corfu, Sicily (Catania), Cyprus and Budapest next spring/summer, as well as increased frequency to existing destinations Malaga, Ibiza, Split, Dubrovnik, Majorca, Faro, Tenerife, Copenhagen and Barcelona.

Budapest flights commence in March, with three departures a week. Santorini, Sicily, and Cyprus will be served once a week starting in April, with Corfu being once a week from July 19 2014.

Norwegian started offering British package holidaymakers flights from Gatwick in spring 2013, competing with the likes of Ryanair, Easyjet, and British Airways.
