Paying as little as possible in oil-rich Norway is almost a national sport. But Norwegians’ place conditions on their home comforts from neighbouring Sweden.

Research company Ipsos MMI’s annual reputation report, released Thursday, shows that home furniture and furnishings giant IKEA gets 71 points. ICA Norge, part of wholly-owned Swedish firm ICA Gruppen, receives 19 points.

The score is the sum of the percentage of people who answered that their impression was extremely or quite good/bad, respectively, according to the report that Aftenposten quotes from.

Ipsos MMI, part of global French research company Ipsos, also writes that Norway farmers’ dairy cooperative TINE gets 81 per cent, matching NRK. Norwegian tabloid VG joins the food-vending Swedies at the low 19-point position.

According to Aftenposten’s article, the percentages for banking major DnB and low-priced carrier Norwegian were 32 and 31, respectively.

These were the companies Norwegians were more negative to in relation to previous reports the research company has published.

A two-year period of reports shows that DnB was in 23rd place in 2012, but ended up in 44th place out of 111 companies for 2014.

Airline Norwegian, which has had issues with long-haul services using the Boeing 787 Dreamliners the trans-Atlantic ‘Open Skies’ agreement, was 28th this year. The company came 10th in 2013.

Neither company is satisfied their respective positions have sunk.

Ipsos MMI points out that “none of the companies in the survey have a directly bad reputation.”
