Commuters and passengers experienced major disruption in and following this morning’s rush hour after all through traffic was cancelled due to what is described as the “smouldering fire”.

Many passengers had to be transferred by bus or find other travel methods due to the damage the fire caused. Delays of some 20 minutes also affected Airport Express Train (Flytoget) travelers.

“Seven cables were damaged by the fire. We have replaced approximately 30 meters of each cable and spliced these together on each side of the damaged area,” says the administration’s Guttorm Moss .

He adds the thick smoke gave fire department personnel problems locating the actual place it was emanating from.

Passengers are advised to expect some delays this afternoon and evening until timetabled services are running fully to published schedule.
