Roaming prices to fall. But Norwegian-registered users will have to wait. On 22 April, the EU parliament voted in favour of maximum prices for data traffic when roaming within the EU. This comes in addition to already existing price-caps on making and receiving calls. On 22 April, the EU parliament voted in favour of maximum prices for data traffic when roaming within the EU. This comes in addition to already existing price-caps on making and receiving calls.

The new prices will mean that it will cost 0.11 Euro to send an SMS, with today’s prices being approximately 0.28, according to aftenbladet.no

The proposed prices for Internet surfing will be 1 Euro per downloaded MB, with lower sums expected both in 2010 and 2011. At present, it costs 1.68 per MB.

As Norway is part of the EEA, though, the matter has to be raised at one of the committee’s monthly meetings; something which means that subscribers in Norway will not notice the benefits until the autumn.

01 July is the date that has been set for the new prices to take effect.
