Whilst authorities cannot say for sure whether she was killed on purpose or not, the corpse was found partially hidden in what many residents say is a muddy and quiet area.

Two suspects, a local man in his 60’s and a 37-year-old male, have been arrested in connection with the discovery. Police have indicted the 37-year-old for murder. Another person, a witness, has been charged for giving a false statement.

NRK reported earlier today that Sigrid’s family had already been informed about the discovery, due to police’s obligation to inform the families of a missing individual when a dead person is found.

Sigrid Giskegjerde Schjetne went missing on 05 August in Østensjø in the early hours of the morning whilst coming home from a friend’s house. Hundreds of volunteers and rescue personnel mounted a sizeable operation in search of the 16-year-old

Police did not want to make any other comments before the investigation finishes.
