A sneak preview.



The government’s new strategy and policies for the next four years are to be made public today at 15:00.

Here is a selection from NRK of what has happened so far today:

1. Agreement to a small increase in the use of private companies within the health
     sector reached.
2.
Agreement not to close any local hospitals reached.
3.
Benefits payments to at-home parents to be continued (“kontantstøtte”).
4.
Government to work on cutting CO2 emissions by 20-40% by 2020.
5. More restrictive policy on asylum-seekers, especially those who arrive without
     identity papers:
a.  Increased use of internment and return.
b.  Those who cooperate with authorities will be secured faster processing times.
c.  One partner must have worked in Norway for at least four years for the other to
    be eligible for so-called “family reunification”.
d.  Setting up child institutions in children’s homeland to enable faster return.
6.  Troops to stay in Afghanistan, with guaranteed no deployment in the south.
7.  No eradication of wolves, with a clarification of the numbers wolves and bears.
8.  Delayed decision on oil exploration in Lofoten and Vesterålen until next autumn.
9.  Continuation of the present tax system.
