Yesterday saw the start of the court case against a Norwegian man accused of sexually molesting small boys in different parts of the country. The first boy to testify was only seven years old when he was assaulted.

Background

The accused, Erik Andersen, has been charged and formally indicted for 60 cases – including the rape of two small boys – but police believe there could be as many as 160 sexual offences that have been committed over a period of over 30 years.

Andersen, known as “the pocket man” (lommemannen), got his nickname from the way he tricked the boys to touch his genitals through a hole cut in the lining of his trouser pocket, asking them to help him find a key or other objects.

Soap

The now 17 year-old first witness cried when telling of his ordeal, and said he finds it difficult to be out in public. He claims he was forced to perform oral sex at swimming baths outside Bergen after Andersen put soap in his eyes.

His mother understood that something was wrong because the boy seemed angry and upset, although he didn’t tell her what had happened immediately, according to TV2.

However police have no forensic evidence linking Andersen to the crime, and the accused claims that the boy is lying.

The trial in Follo court in Ski continues today with testimony from the boy’s mother.
