The current strike amongst workers in the security sector is to get worse, according to NAF (Norwegian Union of General Workers/Norsk Arbeidsmandsforbund).

800 new personnel are to be called out from 06:00 on Monday, hitting airports and municipalities even harder.

“The strike will be stepped up to include all of our members at Flesland, Tromsø, Værnes and Sola airports, as well as Møre og Romsdal, Oppland, Hedemark, Sør-Trøndelag, Nord-Trøndelag, Nordland, and Troms og Finnmark municipalities,” NAF union leader Erna Hagensen tells The Foreigner.

Hagensen also confirms the union is considering calling personnel out at Oslo Gardermoen.

And Haugesund airport will also be hit during the course of today.

“As the situation is now, it looks as though we’ll be closing the airport from 21:30 this evening,” says airport chief Øystein Østensjø.
