Now ex-coach Solbakken has only been at the club since July but the Molineux board decided to dismiss him after the match.

Pat Murphy from the BBC wrote on Twitter on Saturday night that he thought Solbakken would have faced the same fate even if Wolves had won the match against Luton.

Assistant manager Johan Lange and first team coach Patrick Weiser have also left the club after their contracts were terminated.

Doncaster Manager Dean Saunders is has now officially taken over for Ståle Solbakken.

Solbakken told Norwegian paper Dagbladet, Sunday, that he thought he would have more time at the club to try and turn things around and that the dismissal had been a surprise.

“I felt there was major understanding for the problems we had and that the management looked at it as a complex problem. Yet I knew it was a fight. But me getting fired was never on the cards,” he said.
