Driving a Citroen C4 and with a new navigator, Solberg finished the race 38.0 seconds behind six-times world champion, French driver Sebastien Loeb.

Norway’s second driver at rally Bulgaria, Henning Solberg, driving a Ford Fiesta S2000, came in 10th out of a total of 43 teams taking part at the race.

Among the difficulties that drivers encountered weren’t only weather conditions, June 9th proving to be a rainy day in Bulgaria, but also road conditions.

Betty Luke, leader in the European Championship supposedly declared that the road surface was cracked in places, making the route uneven.

Henning Solberg also noticed some differences in this rally’s roads, compared to other ones he’s participated

“There is asphalt here, like in France, Spain and Germany, but everything is different,” he declared before the start of the race.

Friday wasn’t without accidents, Finnish Kimi Raikkonen crashing his Citroen C4 19.5 km after the start of the Belmeken route at the second phase. Both he and his navigator were unharmed.

Rally Bulgaria is the seventh round of the World Championship.
