Updated: Bjørgen to drop Team Sprint Classic. Triple gold medallist Marit Bjørgen has decided not to compete in tomorrow’s Ladies Team Sprint Classic at Holmenkollen. “We agreed she should be suitable ready for the rest of the championship,” team trainer Egil Kristiansen said at today’s press conference. According to NRK, Ms Bjørgen took the decision yesterday evening. What tipped it for the champion from Rognes was yesterday’s 10km Individual Race, collapsing after crossing the finish line.

Unfortunately, her conclusion means she may miss the chance to be the first skier in history to win six world championship gold medals.

“It took a bit of time before Marit managed to decide,” said sprint trainer Jon Arne Schjetne.
