Amongst fears of soaring prices for Lockheed Martin’s F-35s, Norway has moved a step closer to deciding where to put its noisy aircraft.

A report has suggested that Ørland will be the best place for a base in order to the respect residents and the environment. These planes are allegedly four times louder than the current F-16s.
Bodø is still in the running, despite the cost of moving the military part of the airport 700 metres further to the west, which will mean building new runways partially out into the sea.
Ørland’s Mayor is hoping to get the airbase, as “we have no plan B.”
Defence Chief Harold Sunde’s is expected to make his recommendations next month.
