Ørland may become fighter base / News in brief / The Foreigner

Ørland may become fighter base. Amongst fears of soaring prices for Lockheed Martin’s F-35s, Norway has moved a step closer to deciding where to put its noisy aircraft. A report has suggested that Ørland will be the best place for a base in order to the respect residents and the environment. These planes are allegedly four times louder than the current F-16s. Bodø is still in the running, despite the cost of moving the military part of the airport 700 metres further to the west, which will mean building new runways partially out into the sea.
