Inferno, which will take place at some seven venues in the city, hosts bands and fans from all around the world. Held between 23rd and 26th March this year, the festival will break out its metallic sound with the Australian Psycroptic, playing its death-metal at the Vulkan Arena in Maridalsveien.

The festival, which started in 2001, differs from other ones of this genre since it focuses more on the extreme sub-genres of the metal: Black Metal, Death Metal, Trash Metal, and Doom Metal.

And for the first time this year, it will host a metal auction and a round of Q&A – held at the Clarion Royal Hotel Christiania. There will also be happenings including panel debates, different workshops, pre-parties, a black-metal breakfast, and some Inferno exhibitions with treats for the guests.

Some of the other bands billed to play are Deathcode Society (France), winners of ‘Best Album’ EMC’s Awards on 2015 for their symphonic Black Metal album ‘Eschatonizer’, and the Finnish Folk Metal band Moonsorrow formed in 1995. They will be making their first appearance in Oslo for eight years.

American Death Metal group Suffocation, created in 1988, will be performing too, as well as Norwegian bands gathered for the Festival such as Black Metal group The 3rd Attempt, and Order, who will be presenting their new Death Metal song releases.

Bands from Iceland, Canada, Chile, Germany, Greece, Luxembourg, Italy, Poland, and the UK are also on the programme. Swedish Death Metal band Månegarm and Norway’s Mayhem will be bringing this year’s Inferno to a close.
