Forecasters predict a warm autumn. Don’t put the swimwear away yet. Well, the forecasters may have got it wrong in Britain about the summer barbeque weather – a minor matter in comparison to the 1987 storms – but the weather people at the Meteorological Institute (Meteorologisk institutt) here say the long-range forecast looks promising. “We can see that the prognosis for the average temperature says that it will be one degree above normal, especially in coastal areas,” Hans-Olav Hygen, a climate researcher at the institute tells Dagbladet.

Although the paper says that the next few days in Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, and northern Norway will see some rain, Hygen predicts waters around the Norwegian coast are set to be nice and warm to have a dip in until October.

Good news for those of us who don’t like the Norwegian winter.
