The Foreigner Lavangen crash kills three. Three people have died and one is in a serious condition following a collision between a car and lorry in Lavangen municipality, northern Norway. The accident, involving five men, on the E6 motorway/Fossebakken intersection in Sør-Troms happened in wintry conditions. Fire crews have now finally freed the fourth individual trapped in the car, who is being transported to University Hospital Northern Norway (UNN) in Narvik. The driver of the lorry is reportedly unharmed.

Lavangen crash kills three

Three people have died and one is in a serious condition following a collision between a car and lorry in Lavangen municipality, northern Norway.



The accident, involving five men, on the E6 motorway/Fossebakken intersection in Sør-Troms happened in wintry conditions.

Fire crews have now finally freed the fourth individual trapped in the car, who is being transported to University Hospital Northern Norway (UNN) in Narvik. The driver of the lorry is reportedly unharmed. 

Kåre Munkvold, operations leader in Midtre Hålogaland District Police calls what happened "a tragedy”. He says to NTB, “officers have not arrived at the scene yet, but medical personnel confirm three people are dead. We are taking care of the lorry driver.”

Police were informed of today’s crash at 18:04, Friday evening. Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA/Statens vegvesen) officials say the E6 past the accident site is closed, with traffic queues in the area.

“It’s a terrible sight,” website Salangen-Nyheter’s Jon Henrik Larsen tells state broadcaster NRK.
