After an audience with King Harald, Junker met with Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, Minister of Finance Sigbjørn Johnsen, and President of the Norwegian Parliament, Dag Terje Andersen.

The visit’s main goal was consultations regarding the current EU financial situation, given Norway’s success when dealing with the Scandinavian financial crisis of the 1990s.

“The measures Norway took in those difficult times prove the crisis can be overcome with courage and determination,” Junker said.

During talks with Stoltenberg and Johnsen, Prime Minister Junker also pointed another challenge the EU faces.

“The problem is how to solve the dilemma of meeting our commitments to our exit strategy stimulus packages without jeopardizing the resumption of growth.”

According to the Luxembourg Government’s official news portal, both prime ministers have also agreed on future collaboration projects, especially those possibly involving Luxembourg in Norwegian renewable energy solutions and development.
