Randy Lerner has been looking for a new manager for the Midlands-based football side after Alex McLeish was fired earlier this week. It has been rumoured in the British press that the Norwegian would manage a football side in England but some thought the timing of this was unexpected.

According to Tidens Krav, Lerner travelled to Solskjær’s hometown, Kristiansund, on Thursday and to talk about his future with Molde’s chairman, Øystein Neerland. Solskjær is the club’s current manager.

Although Mr. Neerland is yet to comment on the situation, he was said to be open to discussions with Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner.

Solskjær has enjoyed a successful tenure at Molde, winning the league title last season and has been considered to be one of the favourites to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager once the Scottish coach retires.

Moreover, Solskjær will not be the first Norwegian coach in England this year, if chosen to coach the side. Ståle Solbakken has recently been appointed Wolverhampton Wanderers manager and is said to be looking forward to the new challenge at hand.
