UPDATE: The Norwegian female tourist in her 30s and an Israeli Arab kidnapped by armed Bedouins in the Sinai Peninsula, Friday, report their captors are treating them well under the circumstances.

Both were making their way from Taba and were on their way to Dahab when gunmen stopped their car.

The peninsula has become a hub for groups connected to al-Qaeda over the last few years.

There have also been kidnappings of tourists that have been used as bargaining cards for arrested locals involved in drugs trade in the past.

No further information was given in the Al-Ahram report, which quoted Egyptian Police sources.

A Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs press spokesperson told The Foreigner earlier they were neither confirming or denying reports for the time being, but have since stated the female Norwegian national was taken hostage in Egypt.
