Former Governor of California and actor of the ‘Terminator’ films and ‘True Lies’, Arnold Schwarzenegger, will be one of the public speakers at the sixth annual gathering.

According to ZERO’s (Zero Emissions Resource Organisation) website, the 63-year-old “put California in the international driver’s seat when it comes to action against climate change”. They stated that he made the US “a global role model for politicians and business leaders”.

Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger, nicknamed “Arnie” adopted a system in 2006 called “Global Warming Solutions Act” which collaborated to reduce California’s greenhouse gas emissions. He also introduced the “California Hydrogen Highway” and “Million Solar Roofs the Plan”.

The programmes aim to establish 3,000 new megawatts of solar power by 2015 for 27 million inhabitants in America’s largest state.

"We simply must doeverything in our power to slow down global warming before it's too late,” he said in 2007.

“The science is clear. The debate about global warming is over,” the Austrian continued.

Mr Schwarzenegger will join European Commissioner for Climate Action, Connie Hedegaard and British sociologist Baron Anthony Giddens at this year’s confernce, which will be simultaneously translated for English-speakers during the Norwegian-only parts of the programme.

The event, said to be the “largest of its kind in Scandinavia”, will be held at the Clarion Hotel Oslo Airport between November 21 and 22.
